BOBBY BROWN'S RACING BIOGRAPHY Bobby Brown is one of the most experienced and versatile racing drivers competing in motor racing today. His career began in 1960. In 1962 Bobby was first in GT, in the Double 400 at Bridgehampton driving a Corvette. In 1963 Bobby drove his only oval race at Daytona in the Daytona 250 driving a Sting Ray in the rain! By 1963 he was successfully racing a team Shelby 289 Cobra in Big Bore SCCA production races. He finished second in the National Championship for AP in 1963 winning many AP National races.Those GT rides led to extensive CAN-AM racing, including the second ever CAN-AM at Bridgehampton, New York in 1966. He also won his GT class at the Daytona 24 Hour Race, driving a factory Corvette. This led to a drive for Roger Penske in the 1967 Daytona Race, driving a Camaro. In 1968 & 1969 Bobby drove F-5000, Lola's and an Eagle. Finishing second at Lime Rock in 1968 as well as many other top 5 finishes. In 1970, 71 & 73 he had notable results against the super teams of McLaren, Chaparral and Porsche, which included driving the ex Dan Gurney McLeagle for several seasons. His 2 seat CAN- AM racing ended with him driving the ex Peter Revson McLaren 8F for Commander Motor Homes in 1973. Along the way in 1972 he won the Pro Formula B race at Lime Rock and finished 6th in the Japanese GP and won the 4 race series in Bogota, Colombia, driving a Chevron B20. In the mid 70's he drove a Chevron B24 in Formula 5000, Chevron, March and LOLA Atlantic cars in the UK, Canada, and across the USA. 1976 saw Bobby win the National Championship for Formula B (Atlantic) at Road Atlanta. 1979 & 1980 he competed in the single seat Can-Am Championship with many notable top 5 finishes. After competing in the CAN-AM series at the end of 1980 season, Bobby took a ten year hiatus from motor racing. After his layoff the urge and desire to compete came back in 1990. Driving first a RT4 Ralt, then a Swift DB4 in Formula Atlantic. He moved on to become one of the premier drivers in the HSR and SVRA Vintage racers in the USA. Driving for other owners in Chevron BI6's, B19's and an 8D McLaren, Bobby won many races over the last 20 years. Driving his own Formula 5000 Lola 332, Chevron B27 and March 79B Formula 2 cars, Bobby won the prestigious Gilles Villeneuve trophy as Grand Champion in the Formula 70 Series in 1995, 1998, 2001 and 2003. The last several years saw him driving to overall championship wins in Formula 70, setting many lap records and pole positions along the way.Competing in many different cars on so many different tracks all over the world has given Bobby much satisfaction. He says, "Having had the opportunity to compete for so long over the years and in different cars has given me more satisfaction than I could have ever dreamed of as a young man.
